I don't think it was seriously discussed. The idea of collecting it ourselves was a fairly off the cuff suggestion.

If we do want to try that then I'd suggest Carl with his Glibness and bluff, and possibly Alter Self would be the weapon of choice. Possibly with backup waiting near the bottom of the shaft.

Edit: if people are happy with that plan then I say go for it!
